My name is Jacqueline Valderas and this will be my first year working with St. Augustine’s university parish. I am very excited to be joining this great team of campus ministers. I will be completing my Theology and Evangelization studies at Benedictine College this spring.
I began my journey with the Lord during my time in high school through my involvement with my youth group. When I encountered Him and His Love in a real way for the first time, I had a desire grow within me to enter a deeper relationship with Him. I did not have much opportunity for formation in my Catholic faith, so I asked the Lord for guidance in prayer. He gave me a clear calling to Benedictine College my senior year in HS. I blindly followed him and decided to trust him to fulfill his promise. He of course followed through and I have spent the last four years of my life immersed in a community of faith and prayer. Benedictine has provided me an opportunity to be formed into a well rounded Catholic through prayer, study, and authentic community. During my time in college my heart has been led to serve God’s people and over time through discernment, God has asked me to minister to college students. He has given me a heart for the poor and for a couple of years I Imagined serving the materially poor, but he has revealed to me the poverty within us and the poverty within young adults. A poverty that can only be filled by him and I am excited to guide students to him through the Holy Spirit’s guidance. I hope to walk with the students at UW-Platteville and encourage a deep relationship with Christ.
Mission The radical thing about being a missionary for Christ is that we are ALL called to be on mission. The mission that the Lord and I have embarked on at UW-Platteville is a mission that I ask you to join as well through prayer and support. Your prayers and support helps me and my team spread the gospel to the students and share the same love of Christ we have encountered. Thank you in advance for support, know that your role is crucial.
