I am not Catholic, but want to learn more.
We welcome all who are interested in joining us at St. Augustine. For those that are not Catholic, we highly recommend RCIA - which is an acronym for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The following FAQ should answer most initial questions.
When and where do the RCIA sessions meet?
The RCIA sessions are held on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-3 pm in the Conference Room at Newman Heights. A new class will start this coming September. Email [email protected] if you are interested in starting then.
How long does the RCIA process last?
For most people the process lasts two semesters.
How do I register?
Contact [email protected] to register.
Who should attend the classes?
RCIA is for adults who want to be baptized, baptized Christians of other faith traditions who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or becoming Catholic, and baptized Catholics who have not yet received their first Communion or Confirmation.
Can non-students join the program?
Yes. From time to time we do have adults who are not students in the class, however the class is primarily geared toward students. If you would prefer a different format, St. Thomas Aquinas does have adult sessions each semester as well.
What does RCIA stand for?
It stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Are you high-pressure about becoming Catholic?
Not at all. We want to assist you in discerning God's will for your life at this time. There is no pressure at all. We will help you through prayer, answering questions, and talking with you. We are merely here to help in whatever way we can.
